This is a modification of end-bearing stacks for tasks which have tensile loads as rock outlets have an excellent grasp in bedrock. On the other hand, when using down-the-hole or DTH tooling, heaps are drilled with a DTH hammer which actually enters into the hole and uses high-pressure air as its power source.
