Wakeman played the piano on "Morning Has Broken" by Cat Stevens for his 1971 album, Intro and the Firecat. He was left out from the credit reports, and also for many years, was not paid; Stevens later on apologised as well as compensated Wakeman for the error. Various other sessions that involved Wakeman during this time around were 3 tracks on Psycho Across the Water by Elton John, and also "Adjustments", "Oh! You Pretty Points", and also "Life on Mars?" for Bowie's album Hunky Dory. Bowie invited Wakeman to his home as well as played the outline of the tracks for him to discover; Wakeman later called them "the finest choice of tracks I have actually ever before listened to in one sitting in my entire life".
